New Opportunity for Book Study

From Rev. Joyce…

Grace: More Than We Deserve, Greater Than We Imagine

This is the title of a book by Max Lucado and the one I plan to use for an upcoming book study that will run for seven weeks. There will be two opportunities to meet for conversation and learning. An evening group will meet on Mondays from October 19 to November 30, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.; afternoon sessions will meet on Fridays from October 23 to December 4, from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. Read About the Book

St. Andrew’s Welcomes Choir Director

From Rev. Joyce…

Today is a day of welcome and saying goodbye…

We have the wonderful opportunity to welcome Nancy Wallace as the Choir Director for St. Andrew’s. Nancy comes to us with a background as a teacher, musician, and theologian. Recently retired from teaching, Nancy applied for the position of choir director as a next step in her journey of growth in learning, leading, and faith. We give thanks to God for bringing her to us and look forward to Nancy’s leadership as part of our weekly worship and special services. Read More!

Restoration a multi-stage project

Historic St. Andrew’s received a wakeup call from above when part of the ceiling fell down, signalling the urgent need for repair. But the ceiling is just the first stage. Next follows roof, windows, exterior stone and kitchen.

To cover the cost of this work, the congregation continues to receive donations from members and to raise funds through special events such as the Dinner Auction.

Mortar Restore
Vector Construction repairs the mortar to protect the building

In addition to the interior work, the beautiful limestone exterior requires maintenance to preserve this historic church and all it embraces. Just one such repair was undertaken in July, 2016. To protect against possible water damage, the workers erected scaffolding and repointed the mortar that had deteriorated over many years.

St. Andrew’s is very thankful for the ongoing support of other individuals, churches and community groups such as the Thunder Bay Community Foundation.
